It wasn't topical, but for some reason I mentioned Packet over Sheep at a conference this morning, lamenting the loss of the RFC# to a DHCP extension. One day this will actually get submitted, and I'll have to change all the references ;)

Please be advised that despite its proposed subject matter,
Sheep Internet Resources contains no references to Packet over Sheep or any other usage of sheep as Internet infrastructure.
Booooooo Hissssssssss!

Mafeesh has completed the official first draft of
Packet over Sheep Internet Draft, first stage in an actual submittal to make this RFC official.
Other projects we're working on: RFCv6, a RFC describing a new base42 numbering system to renumber existing RFCs and pretty much confuse the hell out of everyone. RFC base69, which I believe DuckEE might be working on to deal with her base cravings and animal desires (not desire FOR animals, I just want to make that clear). A few Packet over Sheep extentions are being discussed as well, such as finally detailing VLambs, etc
I find it best to resort to 'etc' when I don't really have more to say... my other favorite tool is the '...'... good ol' elipses...
mmm...

Questions have been raised as to how to interface Packet over Avian with Packet over Sheep. This is described in the RFC draft in section 5(A):
A. Packet Over Sheep interfaces with other network topologies using a high speed data carrier interface M/F-12 (boy or girl age 12) which will at that point send the data on to the Internet from a terminal.
Of course, this includes bidirectional traffic.

Conspiracy? Theft? Lack of planning and procrastination? RFC3203 is not Packet over Sheep, it is now officially
DHCP reconfigure extension. The RFC3203 Team knew this would happen, as they purposefully avoided actually following the correct process to legitimately claim RFC number 3203.
As expected, now we've got a fight (which we can't reasonably expect to win) on our hands. Which is the true RFC3203? Only the shrill shreaking of monkeys will determine the winner...

Fantastic news from the Official RFC3203 California Poster Girl! The first wave of promotional material for the protocol has made it into the world. Of course, I'm refering to none other than the RFC3203
license plates (here is
another shot)!

Today, on #@Home:

<Merlin_> hi i'd like to purchase the trademark/patent on Packet Over Sheep,
who can i speak to regarding this?
We're hoping to IPO very soon, the buzz in the datacomm industry is at a peak for this protocol. The .com bust is much publicized, but the realities of the world need for communication has never been more evident.

One of the early BETA sites for POS testing, Thornhill, Ontario, was hit by a
Distributed Denial of Service attack today. One suspect was taken into custody. It is believed he is the ringleader for the attacks, as they have ceased with his arrest.
